Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan has said that the WAVES summit to be held in Delhi this week will give a big boost to the ‘Creator Economy’.

He was speaking at the Paridrishya International Short films and Feature Films Festival organised by Mysore Cinema Society yesterday in Mysuru. Saying that the Prime Minister has a vision to make India a hub for the AVGC sector, the minister informed that various steps are taken to encourage this sector. He noted that Indian creators are today sought after by Hollywood for post production work. The Minister said that this



sector has achieved 9.7 percent growth in India and would touch over 73 billion dollars by 2027.

He informed that the WAVES summit is encouraging skilled and technical manpower in the area of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics production and will forge international collaboration for the sector to grow further. He informed that NFDC is paying special attention to this sector and a facilitation centre for the filmmakers is helping get necessary permissions for the shooting of the films at different locations under a single window system.
