Hyderabad, March 10, 2015 : Thirty-one fresh cases of swine flu have been reported in Telangana, taking the number to 1,801, where 63 people have succumbed to the H1N1 virus. Swine flu has claimed 63 lives in the state and 1,801 have tested positive for the deadly H1N1 virus since January 1 to March 8, an official statement said.
"In the current year from January 1 till March 8, 5,622 samples have been tested, out of which 1,801 found to be positive. The number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu as on date is 63," a bulletin on swine flu issued by state government said
here today.
It said 96 samples were sent for testing yesterday, out of which 31 tested positive for the virus. "The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to March 8) is 63, 26, 42, 51, 32 and 31," it said.
The government has advised citizens to take precautions such as reporting to hospital on appearance of early symptoms of swine flu like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain.
Sufficient stock of medicines is available at different hospitals in the state and ample testing kits are also available, it added.
