17,864 new COVID-19 cases in Maharshtra, its highest daily spike of this year

Maharashtra has reported 17,864 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, its highest daily spike of this year. The fresh spike in cases in the state comes as the Union health ministry on Tuesday said that Maharashtra is in the beginning of a "second wave" of Covid-19 pandemic.

The fresh 17,864 cases of



coronavirus have taken Maharashtra's caseload to 23,47,328. Of the new cases in the state, Mumbai accounts for 1922 infections.

The state has reported 87 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, state's case fatality rate has reached 2.26 per cent.

Maharashtra currently has 1,38,813 active cases.
