226 new Covid-19 cases reported in Gujarat

In Gujarat, 226 new cases of COVID-19 were reported yesterday taking the total to 3774. Out of the new cases, 164 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad alone. 19 people died due to Covod 19 in the state, all of them were from Ahmedabad. 40 patients were discharged from the different hospitals taking the number of recovered cases to 434. With the death of 19 patients, Ahmedabad reported its highest single-day fatalities due to COVID-19 yesterday.

 

According to Principal Secretary, Department of Health Dr Jayanti Ravi, 15 of the total deceased in Ahmedabad were suffering from



comorbid conditions. With this, the overall death toll due to Covid 19 rose to 181 in the state. The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad are now 2,543 whereas the number of cases in Vadodara and Surat is 570 and 255 respectively.

 

These three districts account for nearly 90 per cent of the total coronavirus positive cases in the state. Dr Ravi said, more than 2500 tests were carried out yesterday in the state. Meanwhile, Gujarat police booked 13 members of Tablighi Jamat for allegedly violating lockdown norms.
