Puducherry: Twenty six fresh COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory of Puducherry on Tuesday took the tally to 39,908, while the fatalities remained at 670 with no deaths being reported, the health department said.

A total of 1,704 samples were tested during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM and the cumulative number of specimens examined so far stood at 6.40 lakh, Health and Family Welfare Services Director S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

There were 178 active cases after the recovery of 19 patients. In total, 39,060 people have been cured of the virus in



the UT.

Puducherry region accounted for 17 cases, Karaikal (6) Mahe 2 and Yanam 1.

Kumar said 11,139 health care personnel and 3,383 front line workers have been vaccinated so far against COVID-19.

He said the fatality and recovery rates were 1.68 per cent and 97.88 per cent respectively in Union Territory.

The Director said the second phase of vaccination of people aged above 60 and also those above 45 years with co morbidities has so far covered 4,262 persons.
