In Karnataka, 2738 new covid -19 positive cases were reported in the State yesterday and the tally has increased to 41,581. Among the new cases 1315 cases were reported from Bengaluru. 839 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the State and the total discharges have gone up to 16,248.
73 patients succumbed to the disease and the total number of deaths have risen to 757. 545 patients are in ICU in the State and among them 317 patients are from Bengaluru. Meanwhile the one week lock down in the Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts announced by the Karnataka government will begin from 8 pm today.
During the lock down the government has given
relaxation to shops, including rations shops, dealing with food, groceries, fruits , vegetables, milk booths, meat and fish, animal fodder to open only from 5 am to 12 noon. Banks and telecommunication will function. Taxis, auto and public transport will not be allowed to operate during the lock down period. There will be complete seal down in containment zones.
The booth level task force will go door to door to enumerate people who are above 60 years of age. Antigen testing will continue. The Karnataka Chief Minister has asked the people to co-operate by remaining indoors and he also assured that the lockdown will not be extended beyond the one week period.
