A spike in Covid-19 cases has been observed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Yesterday, 29 positive cases of Covid-19 were detected. The Islands has 43 active cases now. All the positive cases are in South Andaman district. A total of 5081 cases have been reported till date out of which 4976 patients recovered. The test positivity rate is 1.60%. A total of 62 persons have died so far.

Singh, Director Health Services said most of the persons found positive, came from the mainland. It is to mention that a negative RTPCR report is mandatory before landing in Port Blair.
Meanwhile, a total of 17,520 people have been vaccinated with first dose including 45 plus age group. 5953 health care workers have been vaccinated with 2nd dose till date.
