31 new Covid-19 cases in Puducherry

Puducherry: Puducherry posted 31 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Saturday, raising the gross to 40,015.

However, there was no fresh death reported in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and the toll remained 670.

While Puducherry region accounted for 23 new cases out of the total 31, Karaikal had three and Mahe five.

Yanam had no fresh case of infection, Director of Health and Family Services Department S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

Fatality and recovery rates were 1.67 percent and 97.85



percent respectively.

As many as 6.45 lakh samples were tested so far and it was found that 5.99 lakh out of them were negative.

Twenty -six patients were discharged after recovery during the last twenty four hours, the Director said.

The Union Territory had 191 active cases while 39,154 patients recovered and were discharged so far.

The Health department has so far vaccinated 12,367 health care workers, 4,273 front line workers and 7,847, who are either senior citizens or those above 45 years with co- morbidity.
