In Jharkhand, COVID-19 cases continue to rise. A record number of 418 active cases were detected in a single day taking the total count to 2,254 active cases in the State. COVID-19 infection rate in the state has also increased by six times in the last 15 days. The State Health department has increased testing for COVID-19 cases and imposed penalty on not wearing masks in public.
In Jharkhand, Ranchi district registered the maximum number of COVID-19 active cases detected while 3 deaths
were also reported in a single day. Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi has directed to get COVID-19 tests done of all workers of shops, restaurants, multiplexes and malls mandatorily by April 8 to keep a check on the growing number of COVID 19 cases.
Ranchi DC has also deputed a medical team with a magistrate to carry out tests on passengers coming through buses or railways from neighbouring state Chhattisgarh where COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
