Hyderabad: Telangana on Thursday registered a significant surge in daily Omicron variant Covid-19 infections with health authorities reporting 4,207 positive cases out of which 1,645 were from areas under GHMC. The health authorities also have reported two Covid-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the overall number of deaths in TS to 4,067.
On Wednesday, the authorities had reported 3,557 positive Covid infections out of which 1,474 positive cases were from GHMC. The active Covid-19 positive infections in Telangana, as on Thursday have surged to 26,633.
Apart from Hyderabad, Omicron driven Covid infections are registering significant increase in other urban centres with authorities reporting 380 cases from
Medchal-Malkajgiri, 336 cases in Rangareddy district, 154 from Hanumakonda, 107 in Sangareddy and 98 positive infections from Khammam on Thursday. A total of 91 cases were reported from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 86 cases from Vikarabad, 87 cases from Peddapalli and 84 cases from Nalgonda district.
The health department conducted 1,20,215 Covid tests on Thursday out of which results of 10,136 samples were awaited. On Thursday, 1,825 individuals had recovered with a recovery rate of 95.75 per cent.
So far, a total of 3,10,48,955 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 7,22,403 have tested positive and 6,91,703 persons have recovered.
