The COVID-19 pandemic in Telangana remained grim with 5,567 new cases and 23 deaths on Wednesday.
The death toll of 23 in the last 24-hour is the largest ever since the first COVID-19 case were reported last year.
The cumulative number of active cases has reached 49,781 while the total number of fatalities is now 1,899 and total number of COVID-19 infections so far in Telangana has reached 3, 73, 468.
Areas under GHMC recorded 989 cases, Medchal-Malkajgiri reported 421 cases and 437 new cases were reported from Rangareddy. The three districts combined accounted for 1,847 new COVID-19 cases in a single day.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, authorities conducted 1, 02, 335 tests while results of another 4701 samples are awaited.
In the last 24-hours, 2,251 positive patients have recovered, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3,21,788 with a recovery rate of 86.16 percent, while the countrywide
recovery rate was 84.5 percent.
So far, a total of 1,21,75,425 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the State, out of which 3,73,468 have tested positive and 3, 21, 788 persons have recovered.
The COVID-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 107 from Adilabad, 93 from Bhadradri, 989 from areas under GHMC, 200 from Jagtiyal, 90 from Jangaon, 47 from Bhupalpally, 29 from Gadwal, 206 from Kamareddy, 157 from Karimnagar, 134 from Khammam, 39 from Asifabad, 258 from Mahabubnagar, 72 from Mahabubabad, 185 from Mancherial, 111 from Medak, 421 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 28 from Mulugu, 150 from Nagarkurnool, 161 from Nalgonda, 32 from Narayanpet, 109 from Nirmal, 367 from Nizamabad, 80 from Peddapalli, 117 from Siricilla, 437 from Rangareddy, 176 from Sangareddy, 183 from Siddipet, 110 from Suryapet, 122 from Vikarabad, 45 from Wanaparthy, 88 from Warangal Rural, 139 from Warangal Urban and 85 from Bhongir.
