Mumbai: The Covid-19 infections dropped marginally to 9,738 in Maharashtra on Friday, even as the State logged 642 pandemic deaths.
A day after the state recorded 9830 infections and 636 deaths, the fresh cases went down to 9738, while the deaths rose marginally by six. Of the deaths registered on Friday, 198 were fresh ones and 454 were “old and unaccounted” fatalities.
With 642 deaths reported on Friday, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from 1,16,026 to 1,16,674. With 9,738 fresh infections, the total infections in the state rose from 59,44,710 to 59,54,508.
As 14,347 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 56,85,636 to 56,99,983. The
recovery rate in the state dropped from 95.64 per cent to 95.73 per cent. The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 1,39,960 to 1,34,747. The fatality rate in the state went up from 1.95 per cent to 1.96 per cent.
Mumbai recorded 19 deaths and 758 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,247 to 15,266, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 717590 to 7,18590.
Mumbai with 18,764 cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Pune with 17,888 stood second, followed by Thane (13,970), Kolhapur (11,453), Sangli (10,545), Ratnagiri (7766) Satara (7149), Sindhudurg (5372), Nagpur (4745), Nashik (4502), Ahmednagar (4247) and Raigad (4210).
