Amid rising cases of coronavirus, Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government has taken over 58 private hospitals across 13 districts in the state.
A total number of 19,114 beds are available in these private institutions, which have been taken over by the government.
These private hospitals will help the state government set up 17,111 non-ICU, 1,286 ICU and 717 isolation beds faculty across the state.
The state government has also set up an additional 530-bed faculty for Covid-19
patients.
"We have taken over a total of 58 private hospitals with a capacity of over 19,000 beds. This will boost our medical infrastructure," said State Nodal Officer Girija Shankar.
The decision comes at a time when as many as 329 coronavirus positive cases, including four deaths, have been reported in the state.
Meanwhile, the production of ventilators, testing kits and other essential medical items, has already kickstarted in the state-run Andhra Pradesh Medi-Tech Zone(AMTZ), which will further help the state to face the coronavirus pandemic.
