Five new positive cases for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours of which four are linked to Nizamuddin Markaz congregation in Delhi.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said a total of 25 positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the state so far and 24 of them are connected to Nizamuddin Markaz.

"In the last 24 hours, four new positive cases related to Nizamuddin Markaz were found and one non-Nizamuddin case was reported. Among the four Nizamuddin related cases, a lady who's the wife of a Tablighi Jamaat attendee also found positive," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, the Assam minister said one more Covid-19 case was detected in Guwahati where a businessman tested positive for coronavirus last night.

"The businessman was living in a residential complex in the city and we have



declared the entire residential complex as a containment zone. We have also identified 111 people who came into contact with the businessman and sent them to few quarantine centres," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Meanwhile, regarding the Nizamuddin Markaz linked cases, the state health department has tested 812 samples so far and 24 out of these have been found positive.

"Out of 812 samples, 636 sample have been reported negative, but these people are still under quarantine and tests will be conducted again. 152 samples test results are awaited. So far, a total of 1,529 tests have been conducted and 1,308 samples tested negative and 196 test results are awaited," the Assam minister said.

He further said the state government has received information that many people of the state who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin are still trying to hide their travel history.
