China reports locally transmitted Omicron cases in Tianjin

Beijing: China reported its first local Covid-19 cases infected with the Omicron variant in the eastern port city of Tianjin. This has increased the challenge for the country to contain the more contagious form of the virus that has been driving



up daily caseloads around the world. The city of Tianjin is just 100 kms away from national capital Beijing, which will be hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics in less than a month’s time.
