In Gujarat, total number of Covid19 cases has gone up to 3301 with 230 new cases reported yesterday. Briefing the media persons at Gandhinagar last evening, the Principal Health Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi said that 151 patients died so far, while 313 patients have been cured and discharged from the various hospitals. She said that the conditions of 2810 patients are stable while 27 patients are on ventilators.
Out of 230 new cases, 178 cases reported from Ahmedabad only. Ahmdabad city has become the hotspot of Covid19, where the total number of cases has gone up to 2181. Six wards of Ahmedabad city have been declared as Covid containment zones. Two more bridges connecting the old Fort city have been closed by the police yesterday.
Meanwhile, the state
government has withdrawn the permission of opening of small shops and businesses in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot city area. Earlier, it was permitted in outside all Covid containment zones, but it was decided not to open the shops and small business in these areas till the 3rd May.
According to the state health department, total 10,500 beds are available in 61 dedicated COVID special hospitals in the state. The state has adequate stocks of Hydroxy Chloroquine and Azithromycin medicines, N95 and 3 layer masks and PPE kits. 1061 ventilators are available in Government hospitals while 1700 ventilators are available in private hospitals. Order for one thousand more ventilators has also been placed by the state government.
