As India fights the Covid-19 pandemic, Hero Group has pledged Rs 100 crore towards the relief-efforts. While half of the total sum, i.e. Rs 50 crore, will go into the PM-Cares (Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations) Fund, the remaining amount will be utilised for other relief measures.
Among the Hero Group (BML Munjal family) companies contributing to the Rs 100 crore fund are Hero MotoCorp, Hero FinCorp, Hero Future Energies, Rockman Industries, Hero Electronix, Hero Enterprise and AG Industries.
BML Munjal University, which is located in Dharuhera (Haryana), has offered its 2,000-bed hostel for use as an isolation and treatment ward. Hero Future Energies, a leading wind and solar energy sector firm, is distributing food items and hygiene kits to people across 150 villages around its project sites. Hero FinCorp will offer a special subsidised product to the customers impacted by Covid-19, the disease caused by the
novel coronavirus.
Hero MotoCorp will distribute masks, sanitizers, gloves and 100 ventilators to hospitals and health departments. The two-wheeler manufacturer has also offered to donate over 60 motorcycles to the health departments in the rural areas in various states for being used as mobile ambulances after necessary modifications.
According to an official statement, Hero MotoCorp is also distributing more than 10,000 meals to daily wage workers, stranded laborers and homeless families in several areas of Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. These meals are being prepared at the company's manufacturing facilities in Gurugram and Dharuhera (both located in Haryana), Neemrana (Rajasthan), Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Halol (Gujarat) and Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) and the R&D facility in Jaipur. Besides, the two-wheeler manufacturer is also distributing 2,500 ration kits for the families in Delhi, Maharashtra and Kerala.
