India is under lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. Apart from lockdown, testing is the most important factor in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition to the government-run testing facilities, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has authorised 35 private laboratories across to conduct COVID-19 tests. These include six laboratories from Delhi,
four from Gujarat, three from Haryana, two from Karnataka, nine from Maharashtra, one from Odisha, four from Tamil Nadu, five from Telangana and one from West Bengal.
As many as 121 government laboratories have been approved by the ICMR to conduct tests.
The private labs will have to follow ICMR norms while testing.
