In Kerala, 15 more COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed yesterday taking the total reported cases to 67 in the State. Out of this, 3 people had already recovered from the disease. Presently 64 people are in hospital being treated for COVID-19 infection in the State.
The New cases confirmed yesterday are 5 from Kasargode, 4 from Kannur, 2 from Kozhikode, 2 from Ernakulam and 2 from Malappuram districts. The worst hit Kasargode district is in complete lockdown with only essential services.
More than 59,000 people are under observation in the State in which 314 people are in hospital. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the decision to lockdown more districts will be taken only after high level meeting today.
In Gujarat, the first death of COVID-19 was reported yesterday in Surat. According to health officials 69 year old male was found positive for corona virus died yesterday in Surat Civil
hospital. Gujarat Health & family welfare department in a tweet said the deceased was having co-morbid condition.
So far 18 cases were found positive for COVID-19 in the state out of which 7 cases are from Ahmedabad while Surat, Vadodara and Gandhinagar reported 3 cases each and Rajkot & Kutch reported 1-1 case each. Meanwhile the state government decided to close down the local and state transport services in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Gandhinagar till 25th March.
The state government also prohibited the entry of public buses and cabs coming from other states and UTs to the State. Meanwhile, centre has identified 75 corona affected districts across the country and asked state governments to close all the non essential services in these districts till March. Kutch, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Gandhinagar are among them.
