Covid-19 cases cross 60,000 mark in Gujarat

In Gujarat, the total number of Covid 19 cases has crossed 60,000 mark yesterday with a total of 1,159 cases reported in the last 24 hours. This is yet another highest single-day spike. 22 patients lost their life due to Covid 19 yesterday taking the death toll due to pandemic to 2,418. 

According to the State Health Department, as many as 879 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovered cases to 44,074. At present, the state’s recovery rate is 73.11 percent.

There are 13,793 active patients of Covid 19 in the state, out of which 84 are on ventilators. Surat recorded the highest 271 new cases yesterday .



217 were from the Surat city and 54 from rural areas. The state has added nearly 7,000 new cases in the last seven days. 

The recent numbers show that the COVID-19 pandemic is reaching interiors in smaller towns and rural parts of the districts in the State. Considering the large number of Covid 19 patients from other districts being reported to Ahmedabad for treatment, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has declared another 15 private hospitals as designated Covid hospitals in the city. This will create an additional capacity of 500 beds. At present, there are 59 private hospitals in the city which are designated Covid hospitals.
