Mumbai: The Covid-19 deaths dropped to 405 and the infections went up marginally to 9,974 in Maharashtra on Sunday, even as 8,562 patients were discharged after full recovery from various hospitals in the State.
A day after the state logged 9,812 infections and 511 deaths, the deaths came down by 106, while infections rose marginally by 162.
Of the deaths reported on Sunday, 143 were current fatalities, while 262 were “old and hither-to unaccounted” deaths, which have been added to the state total Covid-19 toll as part of the ongoing reconciliation process. With 405 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from 1,20,881 to 1,21,286. Similarly, with 9812 fresh infections, the total infections in the state climbed from 60,26,847 to 60,36,821.
As 8,562 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the State after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 57,81,551 to 57,90113. The recovery rate in the
state dropped from 95.93 per cent to 95.91 pee cent.
The total “active cases” in the state rose from 1,21,251 to 1,22,252. The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2 per cent. Mumbai recorded 13 deaths and 739 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,383 to 15396. while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,19,610 to 7,20,349.
Pune with 17,364 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 16.571 stood second, followed by Mumbai (12,646), Kolhapur (11,095), Sangli (9843), Satara (8351), Raigad (5790) Ratnagiri (5182) and Sindhudurg (5128).
Of the 4,10,42,198 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 60,36,821 have tested positive (14.71 per cent) for Covid-19 until Sunday. Currently, 6,19,168 people are in home quarantine while 4240 people are in institutional quarantine.
