As Covid cases surge in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, state deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar has said that it is cause for concern. He appealed people to wear facemasks and also follow the Covid appropriate behaviour.
Mr. Pawar said the state’s Covid-19 taskforce and the health machinery is monitoring the situation closely. Yesterday, Mumbai reported 739 fresh COVID-19 cases with the total number of active cases rising to 2,970. However, no fatality was recorded.
On Tuesday the city had recorded 506 cases. It may be noted that this is the highest
daily rise after February 4 when the city had recorded 848 infections.
With the upsurge in corona infections, Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal has asked the health machinery of the civic body to remain vigilant. He said, vaccination in Mumbai has been done comprehensively. However, he urged that people not to remain complacent.
In Maharashtra, the number of positive cases that were reported yesterday were 1 thousand and 81. The positive aspect was that no deaths were reported from any part of the state.
