The total count of coronavirus infections on Wednesday crossed the two million (20 lakh)-mark, according to the tally maintained by World-o-meter. More than 130,000, or 1.3 lakh deaths, have been recorded till date, with the most fatalities having been reported from United States (26,211), Italy (21,645) and Spain (18,706).
More than 500,000, or five lakh, people have been able to recover from a coronavirus infection till now, since it was first
officially reported by China in the last week of December.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has recorded 11,933 infections till now, resulting in 392 deaths.
The Union Health Ministry has identified 170 districts as COVID-19 hotspots and 207 districts as non-hotspots, officials said on Wednesday, reiterating that there has been no community transmission of the disease in the country so far.
