India records 2,58,089 new COVID cases; positivity rate at 19.65% on Sunday

India on Sunday recorded 2,71,202 new COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry. The daily positivity rate in the country stood at 16.28 per cent. 

The daily cases recorded an increase of 0.88 per cent. On Saturday, the country recorded 2,68,833 cases. The country's active caseload stands at 15,50,377. An increase of



1,32,557 infections was recorded in the active caseload of the country. 

Meanwhile, Maharashtra logged 41,327 fresh coronavirus positive cases, 1,135 less than the day before, and 29 deaths on Sunday. The National Capital reported 18,286 new cases, 11.73 per cent less than Saturday. The positivity rate in Delhi dropped to 27.87 per cent.
