India's COVID-19 tally climbs to 78,64,811 with 50,129 fresh infections

India has recorded 50,129 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking its tally to 78,64,811, the Union health ministry said on Sunday. With 578 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the toll has mounted to 1,18,534.

A total of 62,077 patients were discharged in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of those cured since the beginning of the pandemic is now



70,78,123.

After a dip of 12,526 in the past 24 hours, the total active Covid-19 cases in India now stand at 6,68,154. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Sunday morning that the country’s total recoveries from coronavirus infection have crossed the landmark milestone of 70 lakh.

India is the second worst-hit country in the world by the Covid-19 pandemic after the United States.
