India's coronavirus tally crossed the 67-lakh mark on Wednesday with a spike of 72,049 new cases and 986 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
The total case tally stands at 67,57,132 including 9,07,883 active cases, 57,44,694 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 1,04,555 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.
As of Tuesday 56,62,490 people recovered from the disease in the country and exceeded active cases of coronavirus infection by 47,43,467.
A higher number of recoveries has aided the national recovery rate to further improve to 84.70 per cent, the Health Ministry said.
A total of 75,787 people
recovered from Covid-19 and discharged in a span of 24 hours whereas 61,267 new infections were reported on Tuesday, according to the data updated at 8 am by the Health Ministry.
The new recoveries have exceeded the new confirmed cases in 25 states and UTs, the ministry highlighted.
Seventy-four per cent of the new recovered cases are concentrated in 10 states and UTs -- Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, the ministry said.
The ministry said that 75 per cent of the 61,267 new confirmed cases on Tuesday recorded in a span of 24 hours are from 10 states and UTs.
