In Karnataka, out of 64 COVID-19 positive cases, 39 are from Bengaluru. To prevent transmission of virus, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has taken up fumigation of vulnerable localities in all the 198 wards of the city. Jetting machine, fire engines, tractors, tankers, drones and two wheelers are pressed into service to spray the disinfectant. Fogging is also taken up to control mosquito menace. It has opened nine shelters for the homeless and is providing packed food. 

The 91 Indira Canteens are also supplying packed food free of cost in Bengaluru. In a bid to provide immediate check up, the city corporation has opened Fever clinics in all its Primary Health



Centres. 

In an important initiative taken by Bengaluru South Parliamentary constituency Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya, the ever-congested K R Market vegetable shops were shifted to the National College grounds and that of Sarakki market to Jaraganahalli grounds for ensuring social distancing. The Municipal corporator from Basavanagudi in Bengaluru took a similar initiative of shifting vegetable and fruit vendors to Acharya Pathashala grounds. Dakshin Kannada district in the state is mulling over imposition of total bandh with complete shutdown of commercial activities, due to growing incidents of COVID- 19 positive cases in neighboring Kerala.
