In Karnataka, 3,176 new COVID-19 positive cases reported yesterday, taking the tally to 47,253.
Yesterday, 1,076 patients were discharged after recovery from various hospitals in the state and the total number of patients recovered so far has increased to 18,466.
On the single day, 87 patients succumbed to the disease taking the total number of deaths to 928. In all, 597 patients are in ICU in various hospitals in the state among them 317 are from Bengaluru. As on date, 27,853 active cases are prevailing in the state.
The state yesterday tested 22,204 swab samples and the total number of tests has risen to 9,02,026.
Meanwhile, the Medical Education Minister Dr. K.Sudhakar, appealed to the recovered people to donate plasma and save the lives of critical patients.
He also announced financial assistance of 5,000 rupees will be provided to every plasma donor as a mark of encouragement and appreciation.
He said that in the next 15 days, 58 Medical Colleges in the state together will be able to test about 30,000 samples everyday and the private hospitals and labs together will be able to test another 10,000 samples per day and altogether the testing capacity in the state will be stepped up to 40,000 to 50,000 per day.
