Kerala recorded 5,537 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the total case load to 5.08 lakh, while as many 6,119 patients have been cured of the disease, Health minister K K Shailaja said.
Sixty-one health workers were among those who tested positive today. Those undergoing treatment for the infection are 77,813 and 4,28,529 have recovered so far, the minister said in a press release.
The total number of
coronavirus cases has mounted to 5,08,838 with the addition of the fresh infections, according to the release. The test positivity rate touched 9.68 per cent with 57,202 samples being tested in the last 24 hours.
So far, 53,07,067 samples have been sent for testing. The toll has climbed to 1,796 with 25 deaths confirmed due to COVID-19. Of the positive cases, 140 had come from outside the state and 4,683 were infected through contact.
