Kerala confirmed 272 Covid cases yesterday which is the highest number of single day Covid cases being reported in the State so far. Among the new cases, 157 people are returnees from abroad and 38 from other States. Meanwhile creating major concern the State, reported 68 cases being contracted through contact, which is the highest local transmission cases being reported in a day so far.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that, Kerala is facing a rare and serious situation. He said that the
Covid preventive measures will be further strengthened with more tightened surveillance across the State and covid testing will be increased in large scale in coming days.
He urged the public to strictly abide to covid protocols and follow quarantine guidelines, as less caution, can turn the situation to uncontrollable crisis. Meanwhile 111 persons recovered from the disease yesterday. Presently 2411 active Covid cases are there in Kerala.
