Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala confirmed 44 more cases of Omicron variant yesterday. With this, the total number of confirmed omicron cases in the state has reached 107.
Most cases were reported in Ernakulam, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. The State Health Minister Veena George has urged everyone to be extra vigilant to prevent a social outbreak due to rising omicron cases in the state.
Restrictions have been tightened in the state in the wake of rising Omicron cases. The night curfew has been imposed in Kerala since yesterday till 2nd of January. The night regulations are in place from 10 p.m to 5 a.m. Unnecessary trips and reunions should be avoided.
Meanwhile, the state is all set with the
preparations for the COVID vaccination of children between the ages of 15 and 18 in the state. Vaccination of children will begin on Monday. Special Vaccination Centres would be set up for children. The vaccine registration can be done online through the CoWIN portal and also through spot registration.
Kerala confirmed 2,676 new COVID-19 positive cases yesterday. A total of 60,962 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 4.38 per cent at present. Eleven deaths were also confirmed due to COVID, taking the total death toll to 47,794. Bringing respite, 2,742 recoveries were also reported yesterday. At present, 19,416 is the active caseload in the state.
