Kerala logs 3,382 new Covid-19 cases

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala confirms 3,382  new COVID-19 positive cases yesterday. The test positivity rate has also reduced to 7.57 percent. 59  deaths were also confirmed due to COVID yesterday, taking the total death toll to 39,955. Bringing respite,  5,779 recoveries were also reported yesterday. At present,44,487 is the active Covid caseload in the state.  

About 96.1 percent of the total population eligible for vaccination has been vaccinated with one dose and 64.3 percent with two doses of the covid vaccine in the State.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister Veena George said that necessary precautions



have been taken as per the central guidelines in connection with the presence of Covid's new variant 'Omicron' in foreign countries.. The Minister said those coming from the listed countries would be closely monitored. 

The minister further said that there is no cause for concern in the state at present but Covid vigilance should not be given up and everyone should take the second dose on time. The minister also informed that the situation pertaining to the threat of Omicron would be discussed at the Covid review meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister today and a further course of action will be decided.
