Kerala records 22,056 new Covid-19 cases

Kochi: Kerala continues to report surge in Covid 19 cases as it confirmed 22,056  new covid positive cases yesterday. At present, the test positivity rate is 11.2 percent. 131 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid yesterday taking the total death toll to 16,457.  Bringing respite, 17,761 people recovered from the covid infection. At present, over 1 lakh 49,000 people are undergoing covid treatment in the



state.

The unprecedented covid hike is a cause of great concern as Malappuram, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Ernakulam districts report the highest number of covid positive cases. Meanwhile, over one lakh 97,000 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and this is the highest record of sample testing done in the state since the covid outbreak.
