Kerala reports 6,409 new Coronavirus cases

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala continued to witness a dip in COVID figures as it confirmed 6,409 new positive cases yesterday. A total of 68,692 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In all, 47 deaths were also confirmed due to COVID yesterday, taking the total death toll to 34,025. Bringing respite, 6,319 recoveries were also reported yesterday. At present, 71,020 is the active caseload in the state. Also, 337 deaths were added to the list of COVID deaths.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister Veena George said that the vaccination has crossed four crores in the state. Two crores



54 lakh people received the first dose of vaccine and more than one crore 47 lakh people received two doses of the COVID vaccines. About 95.26 percent of the eligible population received the first dose and 55.29 percent received the second dose of COVID vaccine. 

In Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Wayanad districts about 100 percent of people have been vaccinated with the first dose. The Health Minister also requested those who are yet to be vaccinated to go to the Vaccination Centres immediately and get vaccinated at the earliest.
