Mumbai: With no let up in the spread of the Covid-19, Maharashtra on Friday logged 187 deaths and 5,539 infections, even as 5,859 patients were discharged after full recovery from various hospitals in the state.
With 187 fatalities reported on Friday, the total number of deaths in the State increased from 1,33,530 to 1,33,717, while the infections— with 5,539 new cases – climbed from 63,36,220 to 63,41,759.
As 5,859 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the State after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 61,24,278 to 61,30,137. The recovery rate in the State stood static at 96.66 per
cent.
The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 74,995 to 74,483. The fatality rate in the State stood static at 2.1 per cent. Pune with 14,834 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Satara with 7,783 stood second, followed by Sangli (7637), Thane (6162), Ahmednagar (6027), Kolhapur (5115), Solapur (5320) and Mumbai (5,147).
Of the 4,91,72,531 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 63,41,759 have tested positive (12.9 per cent) for Covid-19 until Friday.
Currently, 4,35,516 people are in home quarantine while 2,837 people are in institutional quarantine.
