Mumbai: The daily Covid-19 deaths dropped to relatively a low tally of 146 in Maharashtra on Monday, while the infections came down to 7,603 in the state. A day after the state logged 350 deaths and 8,535 infections, the daily deaths came down by 204 and the infections dropped by 932.
Of the 146 deaths reported on Monday, 53 were current deaths, while there were 93 “previous and unaccounted deaths” which have been added to the total Covid-19 toll in the state, as part of the ongoing reconciliation exercise.
With 146 deaths, the total Covid-19 deaths in the state climbed from 1,25,878 to 1,26,024. Similarly, with 7603 fresh infections, the total infections in the state climbed from 61,57,799 to 61,65,402.
As 15,277 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 59,12,479 to 59,27,756.
The recovery rate in the
state rose from 96.02 per cent to 96.15 per cent.
The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 1,16,165 to 1,08,343 The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2.04 per cent.
Mumbai recorded 24 deaths and 496 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,612 to 15,636, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,27,694 to 7,28,190. Pune with 16,925 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 16,488 stood second, followed by Kolhapur (11,794), Mumbai (11,106), Sangli (11,072) and Satara (7904).
Of the 4,41,86,449 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 61,65,402 have tested positive (13.95 per cent) for COVID-19 until Monday.
Currently, 5,82,476 people are in home quarantine while 4,654 people are in institutional quarantine.
