Maharashtra records 1,606 new coronavirus cases in last 24 hours

Maharashtra reported 1,606 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the state's tally over 30,000 mark -- 30,706 -- according to the state government.

The state registered 67 fatalities in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll due to Covid-19 has reached 1,135 in the state. Out of these, 696 fatalities have been reported from Mumbai alone.

Mumbai remained the worst-hit with 884 new cases in a day and 41 deaths,



taking the city's tally to 18,555

It was another huge spike in deaths in a single day in Mumbai as the city reported 41 fatalities.

Out of 2,61,783 laboratory samples conducted so far, 2,31,071 were people have been found negative, while 30,706 have been tested positive for coronavirus in the state.

Currently, 3,34,558 people are in home quarantine and 17,048 people are in institutional quarantine in Maharashtra.
