Maharashtra government has extended the current Covid-19 restrictions till May 15. This decision has taken because of a massive surge in both fresh cases and deaths in the state. Maharashtra yesterday reported 66,159 new cases and 771 deaths. Observing surge in covid cases, Chief Minister Udhav Thackery has issued an order and said the decision was imperative to continue the emergency measures to prevent and contain the spread of the
virus.
Thackery further instructed all district collectors to be ready for the third wave of Covid-19 and proper planning of medicines, oxygen plants, hospitals fire audits and said it should actually appear to have been implemented. He said it is a need of hour to speed up vaccination process but unavailability of covid vaccines, we have to implement proper planning in distribution of vaccines at district level too.
