Mumbai: Recording a rise for second consecutive day, Maharashtra on Friday reported 6,686 news cases of coronavirus infections. The total number of infected people so far has reached 63,82,076 in the state.
According to the state’s public health department, 5,861 patients were discharged yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries to 61,80,871. On the other hand, 158 people died due to COVID 19 infection taking the related death toll to 1,34,730. The number of active cases in Maharashtra has reached 63,004.
Maharashtra’s recovery rate stands at 96.85 percent while
the case fatality rate stands at 2.11 percent. The state has conducted 5.05 crore tests so far and the case positivity ratio stands at 12.63.
Mumbai reported 284 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of cases in Mumbai to 7,38,804. The city reported 261 recoveries and four deaths yesterday.
While no new cases were reported by ten districts/corporations, Ahmednagar reported over one thousand new cases. With 2986 new cases, Pune circle continues to remain a cause of concern followed by Kolhapur circle which saw 1476 new cases yesterday.
