Maharashtra records 7,000 new Covid-19 cases in a day, tally crosses 2 lakh

Maharashtra on Saturday reported over 7,000 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, it's the first time the state reported these many new cases within 24 hours. 7,074 new cases take the state's tally past the grim milestone of 2 lakh. The total number of cases in the state is now 2,00,064.

On Thursday and Friday, Maharashtra saw over 6,000 new cases.

On Friday, the state had reported 6,364 new patients,



while on Thursday 6,330 new patients had come to light.

Record 295 more deaths in the last 24 hours take the state's death toll to 8,671.

Of 295 deaths, 124 occurred in the last 48 hours -- 68 of them in Mumbai. Of remaining deaths, 163 deaths in Thane district had taken place over the last three months but were recorded as Covid-19 fatalities only on Saturday. Case fatality rate in the state is 4.33%.
