Mumbai: The daily deaths shot up to 1,592 in Maharashtra, as the health authorities added 1,392 old deaths to the current tally of 200 fatalities.
The infections, meanwhile, dropped to a low of 8,129, even as 14,732 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the State after full recovery.
Though under attack from various quarters for their failure to plug the loopholes in the death reporting process in the state, the health authorities continued the reconciliation exercise. The State health authorities have been adding the previous unaccounted deaths to the daily fatality almost on a day-to-day basis for nearly five weeks now.
Between May 1 and June 14, a whooping 34,325 deaths have been recorded in the state, of whichRs 17,777 old deaths were added to the State’s cumulative fatality tally, after reconciliation of figures.
During the last seven days alone, 9828 deaths (June 8-407, June 9-400, June 10-1,522, June 11-2,213, June 12-1606, June 13—2288 and June 14-1392 ) have been added to the state’s cumulative tally.
Meanwhile, with 1592 deaths reported on Saturday, the Covid-19 toll in the State jumped from 1,11,104 to 1,12,696.
Similarly, with 8,129 new infections reported on Monday, the total number of cases in the state went up from
59,08,992 to 59,17,121.
As 14,732 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the State after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 56,39,271 to 56,54,003. The recovery rate in the state rose 95.44 per cent to 95.55 per cent.
The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 1,55,588 to 1,47,354. The fatality rate in the state went up from 1.88 per cent ro 1.90 per cent.
With 19 fresh deaths and 530 infections, the Covid-19 toll in Mumbai increased from 15183 to 15,202, while the infected cases went up from 7,15,660 to 7,16,190.
Pune with 19047 cases continued to be remain first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Mumbai with 18,205 stood second, followed by Thane (15,686), Kolhapur (15,156), Sangli (10,077), Satara (8272), Ratnagiri (5524), Nagpur (6261), Sindhudurg (5770), Ahmednagar (4592) Nashik (4537) and Raigad (4196).
Of the 3,82,15,492 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 59,08,992 have tested positive (15.48 per cent) for COVID-19 until Monday.
Currently, 9,49,251 people are in home quarantine while 5997 people are in institutional quarantine.
