Mumbai: The Covid-19 deaths jumped to 395 and the infections went up to 8,418 in Maharashtra on Tuesday, even as 10,548 patients were discharged after full recovery from various hospitals across the State.
A day after the State logged 106 deaths and 6,740 infections, the daily fatalities rose by 289 and the infections climbed by 1,678.Of the 395 deaths reported on Tuesday, 171 were current deaths, while 224 were “previous and hither-to unaccounted” deaths which have been added to the Covid-19 toll as part of the ongoing reconciliation process.
With 395 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from 1,23,136 to 1,23,351.. Similarly, with 8,418 fresh infections, the total infections in the state climbed from 61.04,917 to 61,13,335.
As 10,548 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the State after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 58,61,729 to 58,72,268. The recovery rate in the State rose from 96.02 per cent to
96.06 per cent.
The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 1,16,827 to 1,14,297. The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2.01 per cent.
Mumbai recorded 10 deaths and 455 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,554 to 15,564, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,25,161 to 7,25,616.<
Thane with 16,670 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the State, while Pune with 16,524 stood second, followed by Kolhapur (12,988), Mumbai (12,240), Sangli (10,870), Satara (7,271), Ratnagiri (5,083), Raigad (4,517) and Sindhudurg (4,086).
Of the 4,29,08,288 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 61,13,335 have tested positive (14.25 per cent) for Covid-19 until Tuesday.
Currently, 6,38,832 people are in home quarantine while 4,447 people are in institutional quarantine.
