Mumbai: Maharashtra logged 8,470 Covid-19 infections and 482 deaths, even as 9,043 patients were discharged after cull recovery from various hospitals in the State.

A day after the daily Covid-19 cases came down to 6,270 and the deaths dropped substantially to 352 in the State, the infections went up by 2,773, while the deaths climbed by 130.

Of the 482 deaths recorded on Tuesday, 188 were current ones, while the remaining 294 were “old and unaccounted” fatalities.

With 482 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from   1,18,313 to 1,18,785.

With 8,470 fresh infections, the total infections in the state rose from 59,79,051 to 59,87,521.

As 9,043 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 57,33,215 to 57,42,258. The recovery rate in the state rose from 96.89 per cent to 95.90 per



cent.

The total “active cases” in the State dropped from 1,24,398 to 1,23,340.

The fatality rate in the state stood static at 1.98 per cent.

Mumbai recorded 10 deaths and 568 infections. As a result,  the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from  15,305 to 15,315, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,20,531 to 7,21,099.

Mumbai with 18,432 cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Pune with 16,955 stood second, followed by Thane (13,570), Kolhapur (9023), Sangli (9350), Satara (6939), Sindhudurg (5579), Ratnagiri (5220), Nashik (4563) and Raigad (4339).

Of the 3,98,86,554 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 59,87,521 have tested positive (15.01 per cent) for Covid-19 until Tuesday.

Currently, 6,58,863 people are in home quarantine while 4196 people are in institutional quarantine.
