Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 893 new covid-19 cases in the state on Wednesday taking the cumulative total to 66,40,888. Besides, 10 people succumbed to the infection and 1040 patients were discharged from hospitals post-recovery.
The recovery rate in the state is 97.72 per cent while the case fatality rate is 2.12 percent. Currently, there are 6,286 active covid-19 cases in the state. Mumbai, on the other hand, reported 260 new cases of covid-19 and One death during the day. The city now has 1652 active cases.
Meanwhile, no new case of Omicron variant was reported in the state today. According to the state public health
department, there are 10 cases of Omicron variant in the state as of yesterday.
From 1st December till now, a total 46,590 international passengers have arrived at various airports in the state including Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Out of which RT-PCR test of 8925 passengers was done and 11 have tested positive. Their samples have been sent for genomic sequencing.
Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 64 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 52 are awaited so far.
