Mumbai: The Covid-19 infections dropped marginally to 9,336 in Maharashtra on Sunday, while the daily deaths dipped to 306.
A day after the infections went up to 9,489 and deaths jumped to 371, the infections came down by 153, while the daily deaths dropped by 65.
Of the deaths reported on Sunday, 123 were current deaths, while 183 were “previous and unaccounted” deaths which have been added to the Covid-19 toll as part of the ongoing reconciliation process.
With 306 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from 1,22,724 to 1,23,030. Similarly, with 9,336 fresh infections, the total infections in the state climbed from 60,88,841 to 60,98,177.
As 3,378 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 55,45,315 to 58,48,693. The recovery rate in the state dropped from 96 per cent to 95.91 per
cent.
The total “active cases” in the state rose from 1,17,575 to 1,23,225. The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2.01 per cent.
Mumbai recorded 24 deaths and 553 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,520 to 15,544, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,24,122 to 7,24,675.
Pune with 18,242 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 16,801 stood second, followed by Kolhapur (14,701), Mumbai (12,295), Sangli (11,741), Satara (8890), Ratnagiri (5,410), Raigad (5437) and Sindhudurg (4,338).
Of the 4,25,42,943 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 60,98,177 have tested positive (14.33 per cent) for COVID-19 until Sunday.
Currently, 6,38,004 people are in home quarantine while 4,198 people are in institutional quarantine.
