The country's COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 95.46 per cent as more than 29 thousand COVID patients have recovered during the last 24 hours.
Health Ministry said, the total number of recoveries has gone up to over 95 lakh 50 thousand. India's COVID recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise from 50 thousand in May to over 95 lakh in December.
The recoveries are more than an impressive 30 times the active cases. The actual caseload currently comprises only 3.09 per cent of the total positive cases.
Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is around three lakh eight thousand. The Ministry said, India has followed a focused strategy of high levels of testing, comprehensive tracking and tracing, and prompt treatment. It said, this has led to low mortality and very high
recoveries.
During the past 24 hours, 25 thousand 153 new cases were reported taking the total number of positive cases in the country to over one crore. The Ministry said, that effective implementation of the strategic and graded Test, Track and Treat approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality.
Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.45 per cent, which is one of the lowest globally. During the last 24 hours, 347 deaths were reported taking the toll to over one lakh 45 thousand.
India's cumulative tests for detection of COVID-19 has crossed 16 crore mark today. According to Indian Council of Medical Research, more than 11 lakh 71 thousand tests were conducted during the last 24 hours. The total number of samples tested so far has reached 16 crore 90 thousand.
