Forty children between the age group of three to 17 have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh. All these kids have at least one family member who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event at the Nizammudin Markaz in south Delhi in March.
In Andhra Pradesh, apart from 40 children, 124 women who were in contact with Jamaat members have tested positive. In some cases, one Jamaat Markaz attendee has ended up passing on the virus to several members of his family. Thirteen people from one family in Talabkatta, Bhavani Nagra and nine from one family in Asif Nagar tested positive for Covid-19 on
Thursday.
People above 60 years of age who came in contact with the virus due to Tablighi Jamaat connection are 36.
As many 20 children ranging from day old infant to 12 years old tested positive for covid19 at the isolation ward in Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad.
In Hyderabad in Telangana, a further 20 children, ranging from infants to 12 years old, have tested positive for novel coronavirus and have been kept at the Covid-19 isolation ward in Gandhi hospital in the city.
As per state data, Andhra Pradesh has reported 534 cases of novel coronavirus with 14 deaths. Whereas, Telangana has 650 cases and 18 deaths.
