In Odisha, a record number of 3991 persons were reported positive yesterday taking the total caseload to 1,39,121. With the recovery of 1,08,001 persons, the state is now left with 30,476 active cases.
Meanwhile, in an effort to contain the spread of the virus during the upcoming puja season, the state government has issued detailed guidelines.
In a bid to balance the covid-19 surge with the festive urge of the people, the state government has put in place a roadmap for the ensuing puja season. Batting for only the essentials over any elaborations, the guidelines limit the idol size to 4 feet and the
participation size to 7 persons on the puja pandals at any given time. As per the order, the Durga puja, Kali puja and Lakshmi puja between September and November this year would be celebrated without any pomp and public address system while the rituals should be conducted in an in-door like ambience.
No music, no entertainment and no idol immersion procession are some of the strict 'no'es set by the government for the observance of religious festivals this year. These preemptive steps are carefully synchronised with expanding footprints of the virus in the state.
