In a significant move, to give relief to people reeling under economic distress due to the nationwide lockdown, the Rajasthan government has decided that power and water bills for industrial units, farmers and common people in the state will be deferred by two months.
As per the government's estimate, the move will provide big relief to around 1,68,000 consumers of small, medium and big industrial industries.
To benefit the common consumers, the state government has decided to defer the payment of electricity and
water bills for the month of March and April. The consumers will be able to make payment of these bills in the month of June.
As per the state government's estimate, this will defer state revenues of around RS 100 crore.
Earlier on Thursday, during the video conference held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with chief ministers of states, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanded that the central government should immediately provide economic help of Rs 1 lakh crore to states to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
