Saudi Arabia reports second death of COVID-19

Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry announced the second coronavirus death and 133 new cases, taking its tally to 900 cases across the country.

The expatriate old man, who died, was a resident in Mecca, said Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ali, the ministry’s spokesperson, during a press conference held on Wednesday.

The first death was announced on Tuesday, which saw the highest single day toll of 205 infections. The ministry also revealed that 29 patients infected with the covid-19 virus have fully received.

In its efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus, the kingdom has adopted



new stricter measures, primarily the partial curfew, whose hours will increase in Medina, Mecca and Riyadh on the orders of Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.

As part of the new measures, residents of thirteen regions are prohibited from exiting their region or moving to another region. residents in Medina, Mecca and Riyadh are not allowed to exit, and residents from other regions are banned from entering the three cities.

The curfew hours in Medina, Mecca and Riyadh, have been amended to be from 3pm to 6am, starting from Thursday. Earlier, the curfew, which started on Monday, was from 7pm to 6am.
